Licensing
Contact the Massachusetts Department of
Telecommunications & Energy (MTE), Transportation Division. This is
the governing body of moving companies within Massachusetts. All
movers must be licensed by them and have their hourly rates on file.

Ask Questions
Any quality company will be willing to answer
any questions you may have regarding your relocation. Any company not
interested in answering your questions is one you may not want to
utilize.
Contact the Van Line's Corporate Office
Many companies are
affiliated with a national van line network. Contacting the corporate
office of a van line will let you know if the agent you are interested
in using is an agent in good standing.
Get a written estimate
While a phone estimate is good for
starters a written estimate will save you any surprises. Any
reputable company will be more than happy to provide you with a
written estimate.
Insurance
Be certain the company you select has the proper
insurance for their equipment, facility and workers. Make sure their
place of business exists - Drive by the location a company is located
at.
Better Business Bureau
While a reputable company may have
some complaints against them, their record should show they respond to
and resolve them.
